| The Barcelona Metro is the quickest and easiest method of transport in the centre of Barcelona. The Ramblas area and Gothic Quarter are excellent for walking around, but for slightly more distant attractions such as the Sagrada Familia you will probably need to use public transport.
The Metro operates 5 lines (L1-L5) in the city centre, and is open between 5am and midnight from Sunday to Thursday (as well as holidays) - Friday and Saturday opening hours are from 5am until 2am (these hours also apply on the eve of holidays).
A single journey ticket will cost €1.10, but there are also a variety of multi-journey travel cards available which allow travel on buses and urban railway in addition to the Metro.
