We thought the location was excellent - near the cathedral, restuarants and easy access to the tour busses.

Although we were booked to stay at Regencia Colon which was sister to Hotel Colon. As my parents were staying at Hotel Colon, we were upgraded to Hotel Colon, which is directly opposite, when we first arrived. Hotel Regencia Colon did appear to be a smaller version of the Colon and the hotel is also in one of the best locations in Barcelona. If you want to visit Barcelona and go shopping deifinitely stay at either the Regencia Colon Hotel or the Colon Hotel if you can afford to. Outside the hotel which is on the quieter part of Las Ramblas, there are also 2 Corte Ingles stores within five minutes walk. This hotel is where you want to be. There is a cathedral directly opposite too. As we were upgraded to the Hotel Colon, we were so impressed by this hotel that the whole family will definitely return.

Very comfortable room. Air conditioning was a God send in July! Was quite noisy in the square outside early in the mornings but not too bad.

Top Tip
La Crema Canella restaurant on Passatge Madoz, just off Placa Reial was excellent - lovely food and very reasonably priced. We were told it has the same owners as Les Quinze Nits opposite, where people were queueing to get in. Ladies should carry (or buy) a scarf as you need to cover your shoulders to get in to some of the churches.
